Rave

There's something truly bothering me. And that's the Moped Accident of 26th December, 1965. It keeps saying "look at me". And when it's spoken of by those in the know, it says "see how things don't quite match up?"

This is Rave, January issue 1966. Now of course the picture could be from any time in 1965. It would just be of interest when the photo was taken, and by whom. If it's before 26th December, 1965, great! If not, we have problems. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt in this instance. But I'm watching it, and may inquire any person who may possess this magazine if it gives photo credit or date for the cover image.

Going back to QUEEN magazine for a second. This magazine is chock full of information it seems. Not only does it possess the first printing of a British musician's admittance of the use of Lysergic Acid Diethylamide ... ANYWHERE, it also boasts printing the guest list at the grand opening of Sybilla's.

Which took place on the 22nd June, 1966. Here are John and George pictured at Sybilla's sometime I imagine in mid to late 1967. Harrison himself owned shares in the club via Kevin MacDonald Associates Ltd. MacDonald was partners with Tara Browne in Sybilla's. By October, MacDonald was dead. By December, Browne was dead. I wonder what happened to Kevin MacDonald Associates Ltd, and its shareholders interests? It's a question.

It's not the only death that happens after September 1966, which seems to kickstart a phase of people dying, disappearing, or just ending it all in unnatural ways. Alma Cogan, who was romantically linked to John Lennon died on the 26th October, 1966, from stomach cancer. How she got stomach cancer was in question. It may have been from injections of a highly experimental weight loss drug. Finding out the name of that drug, is a task.

MacDonald died from throwing himself off a roof. He was 29.
Browne died from a fatal car accident. Coroner's report states there was nothing in his system that would cause his concentration to be hindered, nor was their trace of LSD as believed in legend. He was 21.

"It was quite a serious accident at the time. It probably sounds daft, having a serious accident on a motorized bicycle, but I came off it hard and I got knocked about a bit. My head and lip were cut and I broke the tooth."
I was only doing about 30 at the time, but it was dark and I hit a stone and went flyin' through the air. It was my fault... it was a nice night and I was looking at the moon."

Paul McCartney 16th June, 1966

30mph. That's quite fast really. He doesn't even mention if he's wearing a helmet. But let's give him the benefit of the doubt, and say he was trendy and wearing something like this.

He smacks his face against ... grass? Pavement? Road? We just know he broke his tooth and it cut through the left portion of his top lip. And quite a serious cut it was. 30mph. That's quite fast. I guess it depends on how he hit. But we know how he hit. He hit with his face.

30mph. I think that's quite fast don't you? With or without a helmet.

That moped story bugs me. As does this trio of articles. I've spoken about them before, but again they just nag at me.

Mopeds. Minis. Moustaches. Moped story. Death story. Story about people growing moustaches. Paul says he grew a moustache to cover the scar on his lip, which made the others grow theirs. Because he was embarassed, and knew pictures and promos had to go out for magazines and the like. But he'd had that scar since 26th December 1965. And he does nothing about that chipped tooth for 6 months.

It doesn't add up. Something's not right here. And his appearance in the Chiswick House Paperback Writer/Rain promos (20th May, 1966) looks like he got hit again! The lip is far puffier and covers more of his chipped tooth than what it seems to have the months of Dec '65 through May '66.

There's just something not right here. 30mph keeps coming back to me. That's kind of fast. With or without a helmet, but he landed on his face anyway. Any other damage to the body? Hands? Shoulders? Collar Bone? Knees?

30.

  1. I wonder if the UK has something like The Library of Congress that keeps a record of ALL publications; I know the one in the US keeps magazine publications and newspapers and such.

    1. It would be worth checking out. There is a British News Archive that I know of, but mainly for of course, newspapers.

    2. George Harrison had a moustache on June 22, 1966 ?? I don't think so - that photo looks like 1967. The Beatles toured America that summer - George didn't have a moustache.

    3. Yeah, that's my wording gone all wrong. I just meant here's them at Sybilla's -- I didn't mean that's them in 1966 -- my fault. My wording. I'll amend.
